The lower cost comes from our commission and incentive programs, when compared to industry members using the so-called “7 and 3” formula for commissions1. Here’s how that formula works: the total commission payable by the seller on the sale of a property is 7% on the first $100,000 and 3% on the balance, which is then split between the listing agent and the buyer’s agent. If a property sells for $500,000, each associate would earn $9,500 plus GST. Rock Point Realty offers three programs that provide a distinct advantage over the “7 and 3” formula for both buyers and sellers: We will list a residential property for a flat rate of $1,500 (Base Package) or $5,000 (Full Package), regardless of the value of the home. Compared to the “7 and 3” formula, this may offer significant savings. We offer a “25% Cash Back to Buyers” incentive, which means that if a person buys a residential property through us, we will pay them 25% of whatever commission we receive as the buyer’s agent. When you combine our singular focus on the client’s needs with our flat rate listing commission and cash back incentive, I hope it is clear that we truly strive to offer more for less.
